Troop 233 Groupsite
For this Scouting year, we plan to provide most of the regular communication on Troop activities, such as permission slips for outings, via the new Troop 233 Groupsite. Groupsite is a host where we have set up a "private" network for Troop 233. Only parents, Scouts and adult leaders are allowed to join the network and receive Troop communication and have access to Troop documents stored there.
THE NEW TROOP CALENDAR IS NOW POSTED ON GROUPSITE!
If you have not already registered for Groupsite, please visit Troop233.groupsite.com and click the "Join" link at the top of the page. This information will be transfered to the Troop's site administrator who will review and approve your request to join.
We will continue to maintain this website as well, but the focus will be shifting to more longer term information about the Troop.
If you have any questions, please direct them to Asst. Scoutmaster Phil Quimby.
In the meantime, you may also download your Calendar here: Troop 233 2010 2011 Calendar
SPRING 2011 UPCOMING EVENTS AND INFORMATION
Cabin Campout
The cabin campout is an excellent campout that all scouts should attend! Takes place in primitive cabins that have no electricity and that use wood heat. Scouts must turn in permission slip by Tuesday the 22nd, and it would be preferred that they are turned in at the meeting on Monday the 21st. Scouts should make sure to pack all gear in backpacks because, based on weather conditions, a small hike up the mountain may be necessary.
FALL 2010 UPCOMING EVENTS AND INFORMATION
Check the Groupsite for the most up to date information on outings and to RSVP electronically. You will still need to turn in a signed permission form with any required payments.
Klondike Scouting Competition
Klondike is an annual Scouting competition and derby. Tests basic scouting skills at various levels, and is very fun. Klondike can get very cold, so pack for cold weather.

We will complete an approx. 7 mile loop which will include lunch on the summit with fantastic views and great picture opportunities. Troop Information
One of the oldest troops in the Great Falls District, Boy Scout Troop 233, of Bethesda, MD., is chartered to Concord-St. Andrews United Methodist Church (located at the intersection of River Rd. and Goldsboro Rd.). We have over 50 active Scouts in Troop 233. We meet at the church on most Mondays, from 7:30 pm until around 9:00 pm.
We have a full program of outdoor activities, including camping, backpacking, canoeing, skiing, bicycling, and more. We organize summer High Adventure trips each year as well as traditional Summer Camp. The rigorous outing program helps to keep Scouts active in the troop and provides great opportunities for fun, learning and advancement, leadership and service. The troop is divided into patrols of 8-15 scouts, of various ranks and ages. Each patrol is led by a Patrol Leader, who together with the Senior Patrol Leader and his other junior leaders, plan and execute the troop's program. Troop 233 strives to be a scout-run troop, supported by several adult Scout Leaders, Troop Committee and active parent participation.
If you are interested in joining and are between the ages of 11 (or completed 5th grade) and 18, send us an email and we will look forward to welcoming you to our troop.
